Life and work

Fresh flowers are placed in the Cathedral each week to enhance the Sunday services – apart from the seasons of Lent and Advent. The team also arrange flowers for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, and more. We work on a monthly roster to ensure that each Sunday is covered. Flowers are arranged on either a Friday or Saturday morning to suit busy schedules. We meet together before the great festivals of Easter and Christmas to plan the arrangements and responsibilities, and to socialize and share.

Our aim:
To beautify the cathedral with flowers and greenery to the glory of God.
To use the natural beauty of God’s creation to enrich the spiritual beauty in our midst.

Challenges
We are a small team – some have been ‘doing the flowers’ for years so we have a wealth of experience. We are seeking new members….all are welcome, no experience necessary, none of us are professionals, we have learned ‘on the job’.  We would be delighted to share our skills and the peace and  joy of working with flowers
Cost of flowers – at times our innovation is tested to produce green arrangements, or even ‘fake’ flowers – when the flower fund is low.

Blessings
Supportive parishioners – members of the congregation give generously for flowers in celebration of personal special occasions, or in thanksgiving for loved ones.
The Flower Team – a very special group of people who work together and support each other. Between us we have a vast knowledge of flowers and how to use them to God’s glory in our church.
